Central Massachusetts Food Pantry Improves Overall Web Experience

Local Non-Profit Website Design

Website Project Overview

This local non-profit website design needed to have an updated, modern feel and experience. The new site has easy navigation for both volunteers, clients, and local supporters in the community. The site’s goal: to raise awareness for the food pantry, making giving, volunteering and getting help and managing the website easier. We are very passionate (and seasoned at) non-profit website design here at our growing Boston digital agency.

"Thanks so much for everyone's efforts in generating the new HCFP website. It's awesome!"

Hudson Community Food Pantry Logo

A local non-profit has website design challenges:

The Hudson Community Food Pantry has been in Hudson, Massachusetts and serving the local community for over 25 years, and is integrated in the rich history of the small town. The local non-profit aims to find a permanent solution to end poverty and hunger. The basic philosophy: helping those in our community who may need some help or a little boost. It is very important that non-profit organization members and workers know that service is its own reward and compensation.

A poorly organized website for causes confusion for volunteers, clients and donors

First, the website was an outdated one-page website that was confusing to navigate for the three target audiences. Additionally, the local non-profit has two entrances, one for volunteers/donations and one for clients; the website did not mention which door to use and for whom. The problem was that food donations were being left outside to spoil.

Finally there was confusion with the volunteer forms.  “New” volunteers were required to fill out paper applications. But that “current” volunteer sign up was on the website.

"Your efforts and persistence in working out the glitches are greatly appreciated."

A new website for a non-profit organization with a Heart

Our talented designers began by creating a sitemap and clear, modern layout for the new website. They worked together with the Hudson Community Food Pantry board of directors to be able to highlight the important aspects of the Pantry’s mission: to help the local community.

A polished new website that also relieves work for the food pantry team

Furthermore, the Ladybugz Interactive team developed and modernized the following aspects of the new website design for the local non-profit:

  • Integrated the new logo and brand colors into the new website for the local non-profit;
  • Created three pages focusing on the target audience: Clients, Volunteers, and Supporters;
  • Digitized Client and Volunteer Applications for easy application, even right from a phone;
  • Created a band at the top of every page for location, mailing address, and hours of operation;
  • Created a News and Events section to keep the community informed on food drives and fundraisers
  • Integrated the donation button for easy online donations from supporters;
  • Integrated translation services into the site for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking individuals;
  • And integrated SEO best practices to ensure the right Hudson Community Food Pantry was being found.
